But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).
Reflection
We are part of an upside-down Kingdom. A Kingdom where we are more blessed when we give than when we receive. A Kingdom where the last is first. A Kingdom where we receive provision when seek God above all else.
Stepping out in faith is taking Jesus at His word and obeying Him—even when we do not have all the resources, or the best circumstances to accomplish the very thing He is calling us to do.
For instance, Jesus may challenge us to spend the first hour of the day alone with Him even though we’re in a season where we’re extremely busy with family and work. Or, Jesus may challenge us to declare our total income in our tax return, despite our fears regarding our financial struggles. Or, Jesus may challenge us to release our children to God’s good purposes instead of trying to control them to abate our fears.
Stepping out in faith is being obedient to God’s commands, taking Him at His word, and being led by His Spirit—no matter what.
Questions for reflection
What can you sense God is leading you to step out in faith and do today?
Can you share this with your children, your spouse, or a close friend and encourage them in this area too?
Prayer
Lord, enable me to hear Your voice and be obedient to You today. I’m sorry for the times when I strive to make things happen in my own strength instead of trusting You. Help me step out in faith and put Your Kingdom first. Amen!
